Position: Traffic Officer
Business Unit: Traffic Law Enforcement
Location: Eco Park
Job Purpose: The Traffic Officer is a sworn-in member and is accountable for
maintaining safety, law, and order on the roads via effective
law enforcement things to do as prescribed in the relevant
legislation.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct tremendous regulation enforcement to make certain protection on the roads.
• Stop automobiles for inspections.
• Issue visitors fines / citations and warnings.
• Impound automobiles that are no longer street worthy, illegally parked or abandoned.
• Conduct factor obligation (traffic control)
• Conduct pedestrian violation enforcement.
• Conduct pace measuring.
• Conduct overload control.
• Attend to transferring violations.
• Attend to drunken driving.
• Public transport regulation enforcement.
• Attend to avenue accidents, document accidents and tightly closed accident scenes.
• Liaise with SAPS and acquire facts related to street accidents scenes.
• Conduct bodily escorts for VIPs, unusual loads, and events.
• Conduct crowd control.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and Standard Operating Procedures in the
execution of duties.
• Use gear and motors effectively.
• Maintain information and register in the work area.
• Give evidence in court docket for any transgression.
• Keep data of things to do and assemble reviews regarding infringements,
transgressors, accidents.
• Share facts and work with different regulation enforcement groups as directed and
appropriate.
• Collaborate with make contributions to the team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Matric/Grade 12
• Traffic Officer Diploma
• 12 Months operational experience
• No crook document or preceding convictions
• Valid EB using license
• Registration as avenue visitors regulation enforcement officer
• Examiner of Driving License and Examiner of Vehicles diplomas will be an added
advantage.
KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:
• Understanding of Law Enforcement principles
• Knowledge of street site visitors systems, practices, and processes
• Understanding of the Road Transport sector
• Understanding of street site visitors administration legislation
• Knowledge of the Road Traffic Management Corporation Act, National Road Traffic
Act, Criminal Procedure Act
• Understanding of inter-governmental relations
